BRIEF

The clients were looking to build a new home on the islands for themselves with enough space to accommodate their adult children when they come to visit.

We started the design by retaining the existing small cabin that was on the lot with the intent of building and addition but as the design work proceeded it became clear to the client that what they wanted and needed for their future was an entirely new house.

Currently under construction, expect completion of construction in spring 2023.

DESIGN SOLUTION

The waterfront site provided great opportunities to capture views and to become a part of the stunning environment that is the San Juan Islands.

While waterfront lots are challenging from a permitting standpoint, Masterson Studio has considerable experience in working with many Jurisdictions and are able to navigate that process with grace. In the end the design created multiple interior and exterior spaces that allow the owners to enjoy living in a stunning place.
